A 23-year-old woman has died following a shooting Sunday evening in the parking lot of Himbola Manor Apartments, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
Authorities identified the victim as Oveyanna Francis, 23, of Lafayette. Officers were dispatched just before 8 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunfire at the complex. Upon arrival, officers found Francis suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police immediately began administering life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. Francis was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are actively pursuing leads, gathering evidence, and interviewing witnesses. As of Monday, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
