Woman Killed in DeKalb County Gas Station Shooting Identified as Kinaya Hightower

Police have identified the woman who was shot and killed early Sunday morning at a gas station in DeKalb County as Kinaya Hightower.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 2:27 a.m. at a gas station on Moreland Avenue. When they arrived, they found Hightower suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Hightower had been celebrating her birthday when she was caught in the middle of a shootout between several individuals gathered at the gas station for a car meet-up. Investigators believe she was an innocent bystander.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses to identify the suspects involved. No arrests have been made at this time.
