A woman in her 40s has died after suffering a medical emergency at Disney’s Pop Century Resort in Lake Buena Vista on Sunday morning, according to local authorities.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that emergency crews were dispatched to the resort after receiving a call about an unresponsive guest. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Officials have not released her identity pending notification of next of kin. Investigators say there are no signs of foul play, and the incident is being treated as a medical-related death.
Disney representatives expressed condolences to the woman’s family, saying in a brief statement, “We are heartbroken by the passing of one of our guests and are providing support to those impacted. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.”
The incident marks the latest in a series of recent medical emergencies and deaths reported at Walt Disney World Resort properties over the past few weeks, though officials emphasize that such cases are rare given the resort’s size and visitor volume.
The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
The Pop Century Resort, located within Disney’s Wide World of Sports Resort Area, remained open and operational following the incident.
