Authorities are investigating a tragic incident that occurred behind the Doctors Market on Market Street earlier today, near Crave Street, where a 73-year-old woman lost her life in an apparent freak accident.
According to initial reports, the woman had exited her vehicle but may have failed to properly engage the handbrake. Moments later, the car began to roll, striking her and causing her to fall and hit her head. Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have cordoned off the area as they conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Witnesses described the event as “shocking and heartbreaking,” noting how quickly the situation unfolded.
