What began as a viral stunt for views has ended in disgrace and prison time for 19-year-old TikToker Jacob Torres, who filmed and mocked emotional motorcyclists attending a veteran’s funeral — only to later find himself at the center of a criminal scandal.
Torres, who had more than 600,000 followers on TikTok, posted a video earlier this year showing members of the Thunder Road Veterans Motorcycle Club crying during the funeral of Marine veteran Raymond “Doc” Patterson, 68, at Riverside Cemetery. The clip, captioned “These old bikers acting like they’re in a war movie… EMOTIONAL DAMAGE,” quickly went viral, sparking outrage across social media.
The backlash escalated weeks later when an anonymous account leaked footage allegedly showing Torres involved in a sexual assault. Prosecutors confirmed the victim was a 19-year-old woman, and Torres was soon arrested and charged.
After a brief investigation, Torres pleaded guilty to sexual assault and was sentenced to three years in prison and five years of probation.
According to witnesses, Torres later attempted to seek refuge in a bar frequented by the same biker group he had mocked — leading to an unexpected confrontation. Instead of violence, the bikers urged him to turn himself in to authorities, emphasizing accountability over revenge.
While serving his sentence, Torres reportedly began rehabilitation and joined a counseling program aimed at preventing sexual violence. Meanwhile, the Thunder Road Veterans Motorcycle Club has launched a new initiative called “Doc’s Second Chances,” focusing on rehabilitation and education for at-risk young men.
