A Texas mother and stepfather have been arrested after police discovered the body of their 26-year-old son, Jonathan Kinman, buried in a shallow grave behind the family’s home.
According to investigators, Kinman, who had Russell-Silver Syndrome — a rare genetic disorder that affects growth and development — lived at the residence with his mother before his death.
Authorities have not released details on how long Kinman’s body had been buried or the circumstances leading to his death, but both the mother and stepfather are now in custody as the investigation continues.
In a statement released by Kinman’s biological father’s side of the family, his uncle, Jamie Kinman, described the situation as a heartbreaking tragedy.
“We were horrified to hear the news about our precious Jonathan. This is a living nightmare for the Kinman family,” Jamie Kinman said. “Please know that we are in full cooperation with law enforcement, and we will fight for every last ounce of truth and justice to come to light for the sake of our sweet boy.”
Neighbors expressed shock over the discovery, describing Jonathan as quiet and gentle. Police continue to process evidence at the home as the medical examiner works to determine his cause of death.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the two suspects pending formal charges.
