Pueblo Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting on Acero Avenue; Victim Found Dead at Scene

A 25-year-old man is in custody following a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in Pueblo. Authorities say the incident happened near Acero Avenue and Anasazi, where officers discovered a man fatally shot after receiving multiple reports of gunfire.

According to the Pueblo Police Department, dispatchers were alerted at approximately 2:24 a.m. on November 1, 2025, after a ShotSpotter system detected 15 gunshots in the area. Around the same time, several 911 callers reported that a person had been shot.

Responding officers arrived to find a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once his family has been notified.

Detectives from the department’s Crimes Against Persons and Crime Scene Investigations divisions launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of 25-year-old Darian Cocilo. Cocilo has been booked into the Pueblo County Detention Facility on a charge of first-degree murder.

Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine what led to the deadly encounter.

This marks Pueblo’s 11th homicide of 2025, compared to 17 reported by the same time last year.

The Pueblo Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and that updates will be released as more information becomes available.
