Newark police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men wanted in connection with a robbery that happened early Friday morning, October 17, 2025, on Adams Street.
According to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the incident took place around 5:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Adams Street. A man told police he was walking when three suspects came up from behind and demanded money. When he told them he didn’t have any cash, one of the suspects hit him on the head with a black handgun.
All three suspects ran away, heading south on Adams Street. The victim later went to the 3rd Precinct to report the incident. During a search of the area, officers learned from a resident that the same group had also tried to rob another person nearby.
Police were able to identify one of the suspects as 24-year-old Mahrie Motley of Newark. Motley was arrested and charged with robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Detectives are still working to identify the two other men involved in the robbery.
Director Miranda encouraged residents to come forward with any information.
