The Williamsport Bureau of Police has launched a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Brailynn Johnson, who was gunned down early Saturday morning near the intersection of Park Place and First Avenue.
Emergency responders rushed Johnson to UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Despite doctors’ best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at 1:27 a.m., according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling, who confirmed the teen died from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
An autopsy performed at Forensic Pathology Associates in Allentown ruled the manner of death as homicide.
No suspects have been identified or arrested as of Monday, and investigators are working to determine what led to the deadly shooting. Police have not ruled out a connection between Johnson’s death and another shooting that occurred just hours earlier, when another 15-year-old boy was shot twice in the chest at a nearby house party. That victim remains hospitalized but is expected to survive.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Johnson’s killing to contact the Williamsport Bureau of Police or Lycoming County Crime Stoppers as the investigation remains active.
