One Dead, Six Injured in Shooting at Lincoln University; One Man in Custody on Gun Charge

A shooting outside Lincoln University’s International Cultural Center on Sunday night left one man dead and six others injured, according to police.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. during an event on campus. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found several victims outside the building.

Police identified the man killed as 25-year-old Jujuan Jeffers of Wilmington, Delaware. Six others, ranging in age from 20 to 25, were taken to nearby hospitals and are expected to recover. Investigators said one of the injured is a current Lincoln University student, one is an alumnus, and the other four have no known connection to the school.

Authorities said Zecqueous Morgan-Thompson, also of Wilmington, was taken into custody after officers spotted him with a loaded handgun. He told police the firearm belonged to his mother and that he brought it from Wilmington. He has been charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a license and is being held at Chester County Prison on $25,000 bail.

Police said the weapon recovered from Morgan-Thompson is being tested to determine if it was used in the shooting. Investigators also believe more than one shooter may have been involved.

University officials expressed condolences to Jeffers’ family and said additional security measures have been put in place while the investigation continues.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Chester County Detectives or Lincoln University Police.
