Police have arrested a 20-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a child earlier this month, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
Authorities say that on October 18, officers received a report regarding the sexual assault of a child. During the investigation, Caleb Garcia, 20, of Mount Pleasant, was identified as the suspect. Investigators learned that Garcia and the victim had initially made contact through social media.
Garcia was taken into custody and booked into the Titus County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
Records show that Garcia was previously arrested in March 2025 in Smith County on a separate child sexual assault charge but was released the following day.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, police have not released additional details about the victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
