Authorities have released the identity of the man who died in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Saturday morning in Rockford.
According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, the victim has been identified as 49-year-old Bradley Acaley, of Mount Morris.
Emergency crews from the Blackhawk and New Milford Fire Departments were dispatched to the intersection of South Main and Prairie Road at approximately 2:30 a.m. after reports of a vehicle crash with a person trapped inside.
When first responders arrived, they found a heavily damaged car located about 85 feet off the roadway. Fire crews were able to extricate Acaley from the wreckage, but he had suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that Acaley had been driving south on Prairie Road when he lost control of his vehicle around 2:08 a.m., causing it to veer off the road and overturn. He was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that Acaley died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
