The search for missing pregnant mother Lauren Saunders has ended in heartbreak after police confirmed she was found dead early Tuesday morning near Munnings Drive, off Gladstone Road.
The 30-year-old mother of two, who was seven months pregnant, had been missing since Sunday, when she reportedly left work early to meet someone but never made it home. Family and friends launched a desperate search, flooding social media with pleas for information and organizing search efforts across the area.
According to police, officers were called to a secluded area off Munnings Drive around 8 a.m., where they discovered a woman’s body with apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities later identified the victim as Lauren Saunders.
Assistant Commissioner of Police confirmed that investigators are treating the case as a homicide. “This is a tragic and deeply disturbing discovery,” a police spokesperson said. “We are following several leads to determine who is responsible and to bring justice for Ms. Saunders and her unborn child.”
Saunders’ disappearance had drawn widespread attention across New Providence, with community members, churches, and advocacy groups for women’s safety joining in calls for her safe return.
Loved ones described Lauren as a devoted mother and hard-working woman who was excited to welcome her third child. “She didn’t deserve this,” said one family member through tears. “She was kind, loving, and had so much life ahead of her.”
