The Mattoon community is mourning the loss of Linda Louise Probst, 75, who passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2025.
Born on March 12, 1950, in Charleston, Illinois, Linda was the daughter of Oryl and Fairy (Beavers) Lanman. She married Kenneth Probst on October 20, 1973, and together they shared more than five decades of love and commitment.
Linda spent her life devoted to education, family, and faith. She was a longtime home economics teacher and a proud member of the Retired Teachers Association. A dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Linda also served as a 4-H leader and judge, sharing her talents and passion with youth in her community.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Probst; daughters, Katie (Kris) Clodfelder and Kris (Matt) Webb; and grandchildren Kaiya, Kenna, and Korey Clodfelder, along with Hadley, Blake, and Brody Webb. She also leaves behind siblings Juanita Sherwood, Don Lanman, and Dorothy Wise. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 7, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 320 North 21st Street in Mattoon, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 6, at Schilling Funeral Home.
