A Logan man has been arrested after police say he stabbed his girlfriend during a domestic dispute Thursday afternoon.
According to the Logan City Police Department, officers were called to a residence following reports of a violent altercation between 20-year-old Jay Dalton Jones and a woman identified by family members as Caris.
When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from a stab wound to her back and bruising on her face. She was taken to Logan Regional Hospital in serious condition.
Investigators said Jones initially told officers that the stabbing was an accident that happened while the couple was “roughhousing” with a dog. However, witnesses reported hearing the victim yell “get off me” and “help me” before she was able to escape the apartment.
Police recovered a bloodied knife from the scene. Jones was taken into custody and booked into jail without bail on several charges, including attempted aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, and assault with substantial bodily injury.
Friends of the victim have started a verified GoFundMe campaign to help cover her medical expenses, trauma counseling, and housing needs as she recovers.
