The Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation after a Premont man was found dead Monday afternoon from an apparent gunshot wound to the head along County Road 402 in La Gloria.
According to Sheriff Joseph “Guy” Baker, deputies responded to a call shortly after noon reporting an unresponsive adult male in the southern part of the county. When officers arrived, they confirmed the man was deceased and had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Authorities have not disclosed any information regarding possible suspects or motives at this stage.
Sheriff Baker confirmed that the case remains under active investigation, with deputies and investigators working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
