A domestic dispute between a Filipino transgender woman and her Ukrainian boyfriend turned violent early Saturday morning, November 1, leaving the man hospitalized with a stab wound.
The altercation reportedly began over mosquito repellent, according to Pattaya police.
Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center and Pattaya City Police were called to a condominium on Pattaya Third Road around 7:36 a.m. after reports of a foreign tourist being injured.
Upon arrival, rescue workers found the victim — identified only as Maksym, a 38-year-old Ukrainian national — suffering from a stab wound to his left ribcage. He was given first aid at the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Police detained the suspect, Pulido, a 40-year-old Filipino national who identifies as a transgender woman, in Room 204 of the condominium. Officers said she appeared distraught and admitted to stabbing her boyfriend during a heated argument.
A witness, a Thai transgender woman living nearby, told investigators that the couple had been arguing when the Ukrainian man became agitated and sprayed mosquito repellent at Pulido. In anger, Pulido allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed him once before he ran out of the room seeking help.
Local resident Natthaphong Kaen Akas, 28, said the injured man stumbled into his shop bleeding heavily and begged for help before collapsing. Authorities were immediately notified, and rescue workers quickly arrived on the scene.
Police confirmed that Pulido remains in custody while investigations continue. Once Maksym is in stable condition, he is expected to decide whether to file a formal complaint at Pattaya City Police Station.
