A father is in critical condition after a stolen vehicle being pursued by police crashed into his family’s home late Friday night, authorities confirmed.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were chasing a stolen vehicle when the suspect lost control and slammed into a home in a residential neighborhood. The impact caused extensive damage to the house and left the father pinned beneath the vehicle.
Family members told reporters that the crash happened suddenly as they were inside the home. The man suffered multiple serious injuries, including broken ribs and internal trauma, and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The front of the home was heavily damaged, leaving a large hole in the living room wall. Emergency crews used temporary supports to stabilize the structure and prevent further collapse.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Police have not yet released the suspect’s name or the charges they may face.
The Sacramento Police Department and traffic investigators are continuing to examine the crash circumstances and the events that led up to the pursuit.
