A tragic collision on southbound Interstate 15 near the Point of the Mountain resulted in the death of a woman Tuesday evening, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. near milepost 286, where a passenger vehicle struck a stopped dump truck hauling a flatbed trailer that was parked on the right shoulder of the road.
The driver of the truck was uninjured; the female driver of the car suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
Traffic was impacted for hours as troopers worked the scene and conducted an investigation. No further details—including the victim’s name or the cause of the crash—have been released, and the Major Accident team is continuing to investigate.
