A driver was taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after a car crashed into a tree in Visalia.
The crash happened just after midnight near East Houston Avenue and North Goddard Street, according to the Visalia Police Department. Officers said a black Ford Focus left the roadway and struck a tree, causing significant damage.
Emergency crews from Visalia Fire and American Ambulance responded to the scene. The driver, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said drugs or alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
