The Columbus Police Department has arrested 41-year-old Timothy Bell in connection with two separate sexual assault investigations, including one involving a child under the age of 12.
According to a statement released Wednesday, the first incident was reported on June 9, 2024, when officers responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital after a woman came forward claiming she had been sexually assaulted by a relative. Following an extensive investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, detectives identified Bell as the suspect responsible for the assault.
In a second, unrelated case, authorities say Bell was charged with child molestation after a separate report was filed on August 8, 2025. The victim in that case is a child younger than 12 years old.
Bell now faces multiple felony charges stemming from both investigations. The Columbus Police Department emphasized that the cases were handled with the utmost sensitivity, given the nature of the crimes and the age of one of the victims.
Media inquiries are being directed to Officer Bryan Moore, the department’s Public Information Officer.
