The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a 62-year-old Indiana man critically injured Wednesday evening.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Newtown Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered Marvin Patterson, 62, of New Albany, Indiana, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency personnel from Logan County EMS transported Patterson to the Russellville Fire Department Station 1, where he was then airlifted to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Authorities said he was listed in critical condition at the time of the report.
According to the sheriff’s office, two individuals present at the residence — Jimmie Gibson, 67, and Janice Gibson, 57 — were interviewed as part of the investigation. No arrests have been made, and detectives continue to examine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Officials emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in the investigation by the Russellville Police Department and Logan County EMS.
