A 15-year-old girl who was critically injured during a Halloween night shooting in West Valley City has died, police confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting happened just before midnight on October 31 near 2600 West and 4000 South after a fight broke out at a crowded Halloween party and spilled into the street. According to the West Valley City Police Department, multiple individuals opened fire during the altercation before fleeing the scene.
A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed during the chaos, and the 15-year-old girl—whose name has not been released—was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She had remained hospitalized for several days before succumbing to her injuries.
Minutes after the shooting, Murray Police discovered a vehicle that had crashed near Intermountain Medical Center. Inside was a 17-year-old male, later identified as one of the victims, who had been fatally struck by gunfire from the same incident.
West Valley City’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate the deadly shooting. Police say the suspects remain at large, and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.
