Authorities discovered the body of a Victor, Idaho man in the Cooper Gulch area on Tuesday morning.
According to the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office, a local hunter alerted deputies around 11:18 a.m. after spotting a body approximately 2.5 miles up Coopers Gulch Road from Highway 471. Investigators arrived at the scene near a small campsite and confirmed the deceased was 45-year-old John Tillotson.
Preliminary findings suggest the death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tillotson’s body was transported to Missoula for an autopsy as authorities continue their investigation.
