The Cape Girardeau Bollinger County Major Case Squad has identified the woman found dead following an assault early Saturday morning as 55-year-old Dianna Dowdy of Cape Girardeau.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Morgan Oak Street around 1:55 a.m. on November 1, 2025, for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they discovered Dowdy suffering from serious injuries. She later succumbed to those injuries despite life-saving efforts.
The Major Case Squad was activated to assist in the investigation, which remains ongoing. As of now, no arrests have been made.
Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Dowdy’s vehicle, a dark blue 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle was last seen at approximately 1:10 a.m. traveling north on Frederick Street, crossing Broadway. It has a distinctive white “First Auto Credit” sticker on the left rear hatch.
Police are urging any nearby businesses or residents with surveillance cameras to review their footage for possible sightings of the vehicle.
