FERGUSON, Mo. — Authorities in Ferguson are investigating the killing of Kcoree Warren, a father who was fatally shot in his home weeks after refusing a bribe to drop sexual assault charges filed on behalf of his teenage daughter.
According to court documents, Warren had reported that his daughter was sexually assaulted by Lavor Harmon, who was later charged with statutory rape and sodomy. Following the report, Harmon’s sister, Lavonda Harmon, and another man allegedly approached Warren, offering him $12,000 to withdraw the case. Warren refused.
On July 8, just weeks after rejecting the bribe, Warren was shot and killed inside his home while his daughter and another minor were present. Investigators believe the killing was directly connected to his refusal to stay silent about the assault.
The suspected gunman was later found dead, and the vehicle believed to have been used in the shooting was discovered burned, according to authorities.
A grand jury has since indicted three individuals in connection with Warren’s death. Lavonda Harmon faces witness tampering charges, while her brother Lavor remains in custody on $2 million bond in the sexual assault case.
Prosecutors say the investigation is ongoing as they continue to seek justice for both Warren and his daughter.
