Authorities have identified the victim in a deadly multi-vehicle collision that occurred Friday afternoon on U.S. Highway 17A.
According to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Aria Lawrence of Andrews, South Carolina.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 17A and Peartree Lane. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that Lawrence was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu northbound when her vehicle sideswiped a 2018 Ford F-150 before colliding head-on with a 2007 Freightliner truck traveling southbound.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and pronounced Lawrence dead. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured, officials said.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Authorities have not yet determined if speed, distraction, or other factors played a role in the collision.
