Cheraw Man Arrested in Deadly Shooting Outside Sandtrap Bar & Grill

A Cheraw man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Terry D. Leach that took place on October 18, 2025, in the parking lot of the Sandtrap Bar & Grill.

According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Shereef Dont’a Malachi of Cheraw has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Deputies responded to the scene after reports of gunfire and discovered Leach suffering from fatal injuries. Investigators quickly began gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, leading to Malachi’s arrest.

Sheriff Cambo Streater said his team worked tirelessly to identify and locate the suspect.
“Our investigators have worked diligently to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for this tragic loss of life,” Streater said. “We extend our continued condolences to the victim’s family and remain committed to seeking justice on their behalf.”

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is still ongoing. Additional suspects have been identified, and more charges are expected as evidence is reviewed.
