A Sedalia man was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after allegedly assaulting his neighbor and resisting arrest.
Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. on October 19, 2025, when officers were called to a home in Sedalia for a reported assault. The victim told police that after the Chiefs football game, he left his home to get another beer when his neighbor, identified as Travis E. Crellin, began yelling at him.
According to the report, the victim told Crellin to “go away,” but Crellin allegedly walked up and punched him in the face with a closed fist. Afterward, Crellin reportedly went back to his yard and continued drinking alcohol.
When officers arrived, Crellin told them he needed to go inside to use the bathroom. Police ordered him to stay outside, but he ignored commands, ran into his house, and locked the door. After repeated orders and the arrival of a supervisor, Crellin eventually came out and was taken into custody without further incident.
The victim had a visible injury on the right side of his face but refused medical treatment.
Crellin was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of third-degree assault and felony resisting arrest.
Police noted that Crellin has a history of similar incidents, including prior charges for fighting in public, disorderly conduct, assault and battery, and failure to appear.
