Authorities have filed capital murder charges against a 15-year-old boy in connection with the fatal shooting of another teenager Tuesday afternoon at a northwest Harris County apartment complex.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:15 p.m. to reports of a shooting at 10155 Bammel North Houston Road. When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old Hispanic male, later identified as Jacob Gomez, suffering from a gunshot wound. Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses at the complex directed responding deputies to an apartment where the suspected shooter was located. Officers detained the 15-year-old without further incident.
Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from a possible drug-related transaction between the two juveniles. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, has been charged with capital murder and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Facility.
Authorities say no other suspects are believed to be involved. The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.
